Lars Olesen, Vice headmaster

Sport has always been a big part of my life - being able to teach sports as the primary part of my job is a huge privilige. It is a great pleasure to be a teacher at Vejle Sports School, because you get to meet lots students in many different contexts - and the discussions when you run into a student after dinner are often the best.

I've played football for many years, and have always been really fond of ball games. In later years, my interest in physical training and experiences in nature has grown. I therefore also love to live close to Vejle Sports School which is surrounded by some amazing nature.

Cand. scient. in sports & health and social studies.
More than 200 games for the Danish football clubs FC Fredericia and AC Horsens
DBU B1 instructor (2007 - 2013)
DBU C-instructor
10 years in the creating group for DBU's Footballschool.

Football

Training needs to be fun. I have spent innumerable hours practising my touches. I have written a book about ball tricks. A good training session is when you touch the ball a lot and feel your improvement. Or when you achieve a better understanding of the tactical elements of the games. To me, the most important parts of football is the joy of the game and keeping the good spirits.

I love challenging my body in many different ways and I like most kinds of activity. It is always fun to see when the students learn to appreciate new types of sports.

I have always been interested in how the body works and how to make it stronger. I try to make all training functional and I enjoy discussing a good training session. One of my favourite things is teaching how to put together efficient and suitable training progammes - and have the students make and communicate training programmes for others.

Strength training is a good foundation for many things. I use strength training a lot in my own training. Besides my teaching I am the editor of a Danish training website, where we share knowledge about strength training. My approach is always functional training. And I am not afraid to choose the classic exercises such as squat and dead lift.
