Climate contribution for trips

Vejle Sports School

We like to travel at Vejle Sports School. That is why we have chosen to make a climate contribution to compensate for our consumption. We fully agree that ideally we should not emit CO2e ourselves, but since we still do, we would like to contribute to the protection of our climate in another way.

We do this by supporting projects that have a positive impact on the climate elsewhere.

The German organization Atmosfair.de is highly recognized and treats this matter in a credible manner. Therefore, we have chosen to use their calculation model, which we have also compared with other similar models.

It means that for each trip we have calculated what our CO2e footprint is in kg/person. We thus charge the amount that Atmosfair.de estimates the climate contribution will cost to compensate for that amount of CO2e.

Understanding climate contributions can be like navigating in a jungle. Many have made a business out of creating climate projects, but many projects have not worked as intended because the implementation has not always been optimal.

We have made an effort to select projects that we really believe make a difference. We have, among other things, chosen to do our own projects, so we can keep an eye on the project and ensure that the money is spent on real development, which also makes a difference for the climate and the environment.

We have very close contact with the Eventure Learning Community in Zambia, which is a Danish project with great opportunities to work with the reduction of CO2e emissions. Here, we contribute to a reduced emission of CO2e, but equally support local development in a place that really needs it.
