Nature flow & focus

Nature flow & focus

In Nature Flow & Focus, we use nature as a means to feeling calm and present. We slow down the pace and create space for relaxation and a deep experience of nature.

In the lesson we connect with nature as part of a modern life style.

Our journey goes into the wild and wonderful nature on and around our school.
We explore the nature together on a psychological, social and practical level. We will travel into a world, where nature can be experienced from different angles.

You get the opportunity to experience how a good connection with nature can affect you. We make use of our senses – we listen, see, feel, smell and maybe even taste. By simply being in the fresh air, breathing fresh oxygen from the trees, feeling moss and roots, enjoying the colors of nature and listening to the sounds of nature and your own breathing, we create a space where thoughts and feelings come flowing.

In this class we have enough time to react to them, put them into words and deal with our experiences.

Through exercises in nature and theoretical knowledge from natural psychology you will rediscover nature and its positive effects. You will be challenged outside of your familiar framework to explore nature in new ways.

Over the course we are inspired by natural psychology and explore different activities and challenges – all based in nature

  • Breathing exercises, techniques and mindfulness
  • Sensory experiences, e.g. smelling and listening to nature, tasting things we collect and pick. Tea ceremony.
  • Hiking – e.g. silent hiking, night hiking, sunrise hiking
  • Creativity in nature, for example through cave building, natural art, nature poetry, nature sounds and music and playing.
  • Water activities e.g. mindfulness on SUP-board, relaxation in water, bathing
  • Bonfire activities – cooking over open fire, conversation around the fire
  • Natural crafts – e.g. cut a spoon, make a walking stick
  • Knowledge and communication about nature
  • Sauna and winter bathing

Regardless of whether you are an experienced nature lover or just curious to explore different nature experiences and its positive effects, Nature flow is the perfect class for you.

We learn about the theory behind nature psychology and put some of the theory into practice.

Science tells us that nature can e.g.:

  • improve the immune system
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Reduce stress and cortisol level
  • Reduce nervous system activity
  • Improve breathing

We share our experiences on how the various activities and tools affect us. Based on our experiences, we reflect on our lives and discuss life choices, quality of life and lifestyle. New perspectives often arise along the way and we become more aware of how we would like to make important choices for our lives, health and well-being.

This knowledge is our basis for creating experiences of value in nature for you, your health and well-being – also in the future.

Community and shared experiences are also central elements in this class. We discuss the interaction between humans and nature. We create friendships in and with nature. And with nature and nature experiences as a means you learn to improve your relationships, stand stronger in your own shoes and practice your ability to be present in the present. Together we experience how the various activities and tools affect us.

Based on our experiences, we reflect on our lives and discuss life choices, quality of life and lifestyle. New perspectives often arise along the way and we become more aware of how we would like to make important choices for our life, health and well-being.

Larger than yourself

It’s hard to describe how nature affects me. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s probably about belonging and feeling connected to something larger than myself. This often creates very special spaces for reflection alone and together with others.
