Sport & society is about all areas where sport overlaps with money, power, politics and history. It can range from Saudi Arabia’s entry into the world of sports to the costs of holding major sporting events in Denmark or gambling addiction as a social problem.
The teacher on the subject is Anders Dehn, who is a journalist with a special interest in sports’ contact surfaces with the society that surrounds it. He has interviewed athletes, managers and experts at home and abroad, and he has done investigative journalism about fake agents, criminal club owners and Danish sports’ entanglements with Russia on top of the war.
The subject is an extension of the sports journalism course, but can also be chosen by students who are not on the sports journalism course.
