Zambia & Eventure (Autumn 2024)

Zambia & Eventure (Autumn 2024)

Prolong your autumn stay with a trip in January 2025

Prolong your autumn stay at Vejle Idrætshøjskole with a unique trip to Zambia. In January we travel to Livingstone and the northern province of Zambia. On the way home you can visit the island of Zanzibar.

On the journey, you will travel through magnificent nature and wildlife, and you will encounter a very diverse and enthralling culture. You get to experience how diverse a country Zambia is with more than 72 ethnic groups.

We guarantee memories of a lifetime and an unforgettable journey where you get to experience local Africa.

We prepare you for the journey

We cooperate with the organisation Eventure, that has a lot of experience in arranging trips to Zambia. During the autumn stay, we prepare for the journey, and we will travel as a group of 12-24 participants in January for 14-17 days. Being able to travel together provides security and a chance to share experiences.

Livingstone - Safari & Adventure

We start in Livingstone, where you get to experience touristic Africa: Safari, Sunset Cruise, adventure activities, Gorge Swing, Victoria Falls and some of the wildest whitewater river rafting.

Lake Tanganyika, Northern Province and very close to Zambia

Afterwards, we travel up through Zambia towards the northern province, which is completely untouched by tourism. We get really close to the local people as we visit the Eventure Learning Community, which is a small local high school on the shore of Lake Tanganyika. Here, we meet the local people, get out into the small villages and meet the local young people at sports and cultural events.

You will be surrounded by some very accomodating and welcoming people who will help give you a completely unique experience of Africa.

Join this trip to Zambia and Eventure, if you want to finish off your school stay with an amazing international experience travelling the world with your friends.

Extend the trip with a stay at Eventure as a volunteer

After 14-17 days of travelling together, you can choose to

  • travel back home
  • spend a few extra days in Zanzibar with your friends
  • or extend your stay at Eventure Learning Community in Zambia as a volunteer

We are collaborating closely with the organisation Eventure in Zambia. If you want to extend your stay, you will have the opportunity - together with the local staff and other volunteers - to contribute to an exciting boarding school experience for young Zambian students, participate in life at the school and in the local villages, and solve tasks in the kindergarten for 5-6 year olds and see the unique football project in the neighboring village of Mbete.

CLIMATE CONTRIBUTION FOR THE TRIP

A flight to Lusaka, Zambia has a carbon footprint of 5112 kg CO2e per person. When you come to the school, you get the opportunity to make a voluntary climate contribution. The school will double your contribution. We have written much more about how we, as a school, make a contribution to the climate due to the school trips.

Zambia, Livingstone, Northern Province og Eventure

An unforgettable experience

Get an unforgettable travel experience that combines the best of action, wildlife and culture, while you contribute to making a difference in a local community in the heart of Africa.

The advantage of traveling as a group with friends is that you can relax more during the great experiences. That you feel more safe and secure during the entire journey, without being limited in terms of experiences.

We have extensive knowledge of the area and of the local surroundings and travel details. In addition, we benefit from our close partnership with the Danish/Zambian organisation of Eventure in northern Zambia, which will is also where a large part of the experience will take place.

You get really close to the local Africa, but you also get to try some of the attractive adventure activities. You might experience extreme rainfall during the rainy season and move through the bush. You will make friends with local young people as you will do different activities together. You will experience a part of Africa that is not characterized by tourism, and you will meet people who are genuinely interested in meeting you.

See Mbete Youth Football Project

The Mbete Youth Football Project is a development project that offers a safe and stimulating football environment to the youth of the local village of Mbete. Respect, equality and discipline are paramount.

We play football four times a week. We play football for a future with better and more educational and job opportunities. We play football because football is a preventive measure that helps our players not end up with alcohol addiction or other unhealthy activities.

You get the opportunity to see this unique project and see how sports can make a local difference to provide hope and learning in the daily life of the local youngsters.

Sofie - Eventure

It was a huge experience to be get the chance to teach the Zambian students at Eventure. Getting involved in their lives and getting an idea of the students' knowledge in order to communicate new knowledge was a great experience - as much as you try to teach the students - just as much you will learn yourself! It was really a huge experience.

Eventure Zambia

I have spent 7 months at Eventure as a volunteer spread over three trips to Zambia. If you are hungry for adventure and have the courage to immerse yourself into a completely different corner of the world with a lot of nuances, you must go to Zambia. It will really put your own live in a whole new perspective. It is an educational journey and an adventure among fantastic zealots, in amazing surroundings, with beautiful young people and loving children with destinies markedly different from ours, but where joy is really prominent.
